Sibling Rivalry {and The Best and Easiest Frozen Yogurt}
“Do you think I’m going to hell? I mean, I can’t be, right? I’m a good person.” My brother and I were exchanging this conversation between laughs the other day, venting some of our frustrations over dealing with certain strangers, the general public and how annoying it can all be. I swear we were cut from the same cloth, which is probably why we can piss each other off effortlessly.I’ve noticed that I get peeved super easily right now. Like I don’t want to wait in long lines or really chat it up with the cashier and hear how many chocolates candies she had that day and how she feels bad about it. I just want to get off my feet and take a seat, which is rare for me. I usually like people and I usually really, REALLY like listening to people, but lately, I haven’t wanted to engage in conversation, but that doesn't seem to stop strangers from conversing.“You just have one of those faces,” my mom said over our usual Sunday dinner conversations when talking about my anti-social tendencies. “You’re just so pretty and kind that people gravitate towards you and just feel like they can talk to you.” My brother mumbled something and my mom quickly turned scolding him, “Don’t repeat that!”“What did you say?” I asked. My mom gave him a look but it was too late.Through a smirk my brother repeated “I SAID, nah, you’re not THAT pretty, so that can’t be it.”Not missing a beat I said, “Well, we can’t ALL be blessed with beauty and brains. Some of us just get beauty and no brains therefore we have to resort to modeling to make money.” He gasped and tried to throw food at me. We’re a good bunch us two.My brother does model occasionally by the way, which is awesome because he was kind enough to be my model for this frozen yogurt. I bribed him by saying he could have the whole cone if he helped me shoot it - and since this frozen yogurt is made with Maple Hill Creamery grass-fed dairy and entirely whole ingredients, he was sold. It’s actually safe to say he LUFFED it.I think you will too. Love you friends. xo
The Best and Easiest Frozen Yogurt
Making your own is almost as fun as swirling frozen yogurt from your favorite "serve yourself" yogurt shop - and it's definitely better for you. I hope the fact that my very health-conscious brother devoured practically ALL of it, says something. ;)
- 2 ½ cups / 566g maple hill creamery plain greek yogurt (cold)
- ½ cup / 100g superfine sugar (if you don’t have super fine sugar don’t fret, plain ol’ sugar will work just fine, you just may have to let the yogurt sit for a bit in the fridge to let it dissolve completely )
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- store bought waffle cones (mini chocolate chips and fresh cherry to serve (optional))
- In a medium sized bowl, mix yogurt, sugar, lemon juice and vanilla together until dissolved. Pour into prepared ice cream maker and churn for about 15-20 minutes, or until yogurt reaches a thick, ice cream-like consistency.
- You can eat the frozen yogurt as-is fresh out of the ice cream maker - but it will be too soft to scoop. If you’d like to scoop your frozen yogurt, pour churned yogurt into a container, cover and freeze for at least 2 hours.
- Let frozen yogurt thaw about 5-10 minutes before attempting to scoop. Freezing makes it a tiny bit icy, but no one seems to mind it. Eat fast! This stuff is so fresh it melts quickly on a hot day.
WHY IS THIS GOOD FOR ME?
Side note about *Maple Hill Creamery Yogurt: This is absolutely my FAVORITE yogurt in the whole wide world because it's made entirely from grass-fed dairy (hello health benefits!) and it's the cleanest, best tasting yogurt I've ever had (totally not too sweet). So, when Maple Hill Creamery approached me to be a sponsor of Sweetish.co, it was such a no-brainer to say a crazy enthusiastic YES.grass-fed dairy: has an uncannily higher amount of Omega-3 fatty acids opposed to cows that are fed corn + grains. Cows are not made to eat corn or grain, they're made to eat grass, which means you're actually getting the health benefits you need (and nature intended!) when you choose grass-fed dairy. I talk a lot more about the awesome benefits of eating whole dairy, and avoiding "low fat or non fat dairy" here.*This post was sponsored by Maple Hill Creamery but all opinions are my own.
